The most famous locomotive and train in the World features in this superb Hornby train set.  The striking apple green liveried class A1 “Flying Scotsman” helps to recreate those wonderful days of train travel in the 1930s when the two great railway rivals, LNER and the LMS vied for the lucrative passenger traffic between London and Scotland.

The track circuit in this set can be extended to fully complete the included MidiMat layout using additional track and accessory packs thus creating an exciting and fully functioning model railway. Additional coaches can be obtained to extend the train.

LNER 4472 The Flying Scotsman

I'm very pleased with this set. Sturdy locomotive with a good weight to it, coaches roll very smoothly, the points are very firm... However... The locomotive tends to really slow down or even stop over curves (despite all rails touching and fishplates are firm) , and when passing too slowly over the points (which aren't express points, so that might be why, but I've only recently started model railways), the locomotive will stop, and the controller shuts off... Although, the manual that came with the set did mention that the points are capable of holding a stationary locomotive, while another one runs along the loop... isolation points? But all-in-all, very good set. Not displeased.
