| Description

Built at Crewe in 1938 as the last of the streamlined 'Coronations', Duchess of Hamilton entered service on September 10th.

At the same time, the LMSR had accepted an invitation from the organisers of the World's Fair in New York to send a streamlined train out to the exposition and as the newest of the 'Coronations', 6229 was selected, the name and numbers being swapped between 6229 Duchess of Hamilton and 6220 Coronation.

The best as it gets to the real thing.

I'm so glad I waited for the newly tooling Duchess of Hamilton, it was well worth it, a massive step up from the previous release of R3339 back in 2015. The detail has gone very far forward, things like the winged headlamps, which were never available before, the painted cab detail we never had before, the drain cocks and removable coal load. overall the iconic class of the LMS is doubt one of the most famous, the best thing about this loco, its still here you can go and see her and Hornby have done a fantastic job on the model. I can't wait to see what other Princess Coronations come out.

Looking quite good

A lot of good detail but it would have been better with gloss finish like the one in the NRM as the first reviewer said. Unfortunately it was not marketed as a National Collection model.

a definite improvement, but not sure about the colour

The duchess arrived in the post this morning and the detailing is amazing, I love the little "winged messenger" lamps that are supplied for us to fit. She's also much smoother and generally more subtle. However I have two criticisms the colour is quite dark - more maroon than crimson assuming and not shiny enough to much the original in the National Rail Museum. Also where the retooled coaches for her?
